Breed:  Terrier/Chihuahua

How I came to the shelter:  Cora came to our shelter by way of a local animal control. She was really scared in the shelter and completely shut down. After a few weeks in a wonderful foster home, Cora is blossoming. She is still insecure at times and would be best suited for a quiet adult home. While she has lived with other dogs, Cora would be best as an only pet until she has fully settled in to her new home.

Dog’s Name:  Peggy

Sex: Female

Age:  6 years

Rescue:  Halfway Home Rescue  (http://halfwayhomerescue.org/)

Breed:  Herding Dog mix

Color:  Black/White

Weight: 55 lbs

Kids:  Not under 5

Dogs: Peggy is intimated by hyper dogs but does well with other middle aged, calm dogs

Cats: Not Tested

Health Issues:  Peggy had a broken leg before coming to HHR. She is healed and ready for adoption but sometimes has a slight limp.

How I came to the shelter:  Peggy was abandoned by her previous owner and left in rural Georgia to fend for herself. A kind soul (and friend of our rescue) saved their lives and asked for our help, as her chances of being adopted are far greater in New England. Although she gets along with most other dogs, Peggy would love a home by herself so that she can soak up all of the love.

Things I like and Dislike:  Peggy is shy when meeting new people and men frighten her most. She just needs someone who will be patient and kind.

Dog’s Name:  Samson

Sex: Male

How I came to the shelter:  Samson is an energetic, friendly boy who joins us by way of our friends at Peach County Animal Rescue in Georgia. He was dumped by his former owner and left to wander and fend for himself. Samson is a loving and gentle boy that enjoys back scratches and he loves riding in the car. Because of his super high energy, Samson needs a home without small kids.

Dog’s Name:  Scooter

Sex: Male

Age:  2-3 years

Rescue:  Halfway Home Rescue  (http://halfwayhomerescue.org/)

Breed:  Herding dog mix

Color:  Black/White

Weight: 60 lbs (but not tall)

Kids:  No

Dogs: Scooter does well with mellow dogs. He likes to be alpha. We are working on this with his trainer.

Cats: No

How I came to the shelter:  Scooter came to our shelter by way of our friends at Peach County Animal Rescue in Georgia. He is incredibly smart and has LOTS of energy. Scooter needs an active adult home (teens would be fine as well- he may knock over small kids) that will be sure to give him the exercise he needs. Scooter would be a fantastic running and/or hiking partner. He plays great with other dogs and has never met a stranger.  Scooter is about 3 years old. He is a true mixed breed- we are guessing some type of Herding dog (possibly border collie) mix.

Things I like and Dislike:  Scooter was starved before coming to the rescue. He is protective of his food and likes to eat by himself. Because of this, he would be best suited for an adult home.
